Museum Night, Rotterdam, 6th March
Visit now and get the most out of your stay. Spend the daytime sightseeing, and enjoy some culture in the evening. This annual event sees more than 40 galleries and museums staying open into the night, with guided tours and exhibitions taking place.
Triathlon, Abu Dhabi international, 9th - 15th March
Following its inaugural Formula 1 race last year, Abu Dhabi is set to host another sporting spectacle in 2010. 40 of the world's top professional athletes will be there, with 1000 places open to paying competitors.
Los Angeles Marathon, 21st March
Take part or just enjoy the entertainment – this Marathon will offer something for everyone. Runners will start from Dodger Stadium, passing through Hollywood and Beverly Hills, before finishing at the beach. Bands and performers are traditionally present en route, all adding to the atmosphere.
St Patrick's Day Parade, New York, 17th March
The city turns green along Fifth Avenue, from 44th to 86th streets, when the world-famous parade starts at 11am. Join the celebrations and soak up the atmosphere.
Cape Town Festival, South Africa, 19th - 22nd March
With the amazing backdrop of Table Mountain, the festival offers a variety of entertainment, from art and music to theatre and street dance, not to mention the diverse cuisine of South Africa.
Reykjavik Blues Festival, 27th March - 1st April
Are you a Blue's fan? Looking for a different event around Easter? Then, why not join this spring tradition in Iceland?
As in the past, the Blues Festival will continue to spotlight new and upcoming Blues talent, with performances at Blues Festival Club and at the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica.
Blues music will be filling the streets, cafes, shops and concert halls. There is even a 'Blues Bus' which makes its way through the city!

Paro Tsechu Festival, Bhutan, 5th - 9th April
The last surviving Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan becomes host to this spectacular event, renowned for its masked dance.
Grand National, 8th - 10th April
The Grand National, widely regarded as the greatest steeplechase in the world, is the highlight of a three-day meeting at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool.
On race day, the event attracts more than 100,000 spectators to the course, with millions more watching on television. Why not be part of the atmosphere this year, and pay a visit?

Cannes Film Festival,12th - 23rd May
Founded in 1939, this is one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in the world. Held at the Palais des Festivals in this renowned resort, this offers the ultimate hotspot for celebrity spotting.
Oberammergau, Austria, 15th May - 3rd October
The world famous Passion Play of Oberammergau takes place every ten years, with the entire village playing a role. This year is set to see the next event - contact our Leisure department for more details, and to book.

San Diego Rock n' Roll Marathon, 6th June
A marathon with a difference! Not only an estimated 17,000 runners, but also 45 live bands and 26 stages.
The course begins in Balboa Park and winds through Hillcrest, past the world famous San Diego Zoo, then to downtown San Diego passing PETCO Park, the Gaslamp Quarter and the San Diego harbor. Runners will continue into the Mission Bay area passing SeaWorld, Crown Point and Pacific Beach, ending at the Marine Recruit Depot in Point Loma where the Finish Line Festival can be found complete with entertainment, food and more!
29th Annual Steamboat Marathon, Colorado, 6th June
Looking for a run with a difference! This annual event in Steamboat Springs has been voted one of the most scenic, winding through the beauty of the Rockies. For the less energetic, it also offers a Half Marathon and Fun Run.
World Cup, South Africa, 11th June - 11th July
Football fan or not, most people must know by now that the FIFA World Cup is to take place in South Africa this year. With so much to offer there, why not make it a holiday - safaris, stunning scenery, the captivating city of Capetown, not to mention the fine food and world famous South African wine!
San Diego County Fair, 12th June - 5th July
San Diego's 2009 County Fair takes place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, one of the most beautiful ocean view venues in the nation. This year's theme, "Music Mania," celebrates marching bands and musicians.
Held originally in 1880, the County Fair continues today, now attracting crowds of over 100,000. Highlights include fabulous food, shopping, competitions, art exhibits and much more.
Food and Wine Classic, Aspen, Colorado, 18th -20th June
Another event for this American state - the Food and Wine Classic has become one of the country's major culinary celebrations.

Tour de France, 3rd - 25th July
This year's famous cycling event starts in Rotterdam, continuing through Belgium on to its customary French ground - 3,600 kilometres in all. Make a date along the way and watch the enthusiastic multicoloured riders go by.

Edinburgh Military Tattoo, 6th - 28th August
2010 marks the Diamond Jubilee of Edinburgh's celebrated Military Tattoo. Set against the fabulous backdrop of Edinburgh Castle the 60th anniversary celebration will feature colour and ceremony from around the world, from Army Bands and Highland Dancers to Motorcycle and Gymnastic displays.
